On January 10, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi has a talk with Kenya Foreign Minister Amina at Nairobi and then meets the Press. When answering the question why China is willing to help Africa construct railway, expressway and regional aviation networks and invest Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway, Wang Yi said China stands ready to help Africa make the high-speed railway network dream come true.

   Wang Yi said the cooperation between China and Kenya and African countries is the cooperation between developing countries and the mutual help between friends. When making cooperation with Kenya, we should implement the concept of “sincerity, practical results, affinity and good faith” put forward by President Xi Jinping and establish correct outlook on suitability and advantage. Therefore, we will give priority to the development demands of Kenya and the wishes of the people there, this is the principle which we must insist on. The infrastructure is just what Kenya wants at present. So we are willing to give a help. Besides, Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway is an early result to implement the consensus made by leaders of China and African countries on construction of high-speed railway network in Africa. When Premier Li Keqiang visited African Union last year, Zuma, Chairman of African Union Commission, said Africa has a dream to connect the capitals of all African countries with high-speed railway. As the good friend of Africa, China is willing to help Africa make the dream come true. This is a century project without doubt and needs to be planned thoroughly and implemented step by step. I believe, with the joint efforts of China and Africa, we will construct a “fast track” across Africa to develop and promote African development and make the dream of African people come true.
