According to the Yangtze River Waterway Engineering Construction Headquarters, China will put RMB43 billion for construction of Yangtze River waterway, of which RMB30 billion will be used for regulation. It will be the first time in history that Yangtze River waterway sees such scale of construction. The total investment exceeds RMB1.5 billion and importance will be attached to regulation of lower reaches that hinder the navigation. By far, more than 10 shoal waterway regulation projects in the middle reaches has been in progress. According to the overall promotion plan for the construction of Yangtze River waterway in the "11th Fiver Year Plan", the overall construction of Yangtze River waterway will follow the general thought of “deepen downstream channel, clear midstream channel and improve upstream channel”.
