At 10:00am on the morning of June 15, 2010, the officials from Angola’s Ministry of Water Resources, accompanied by the leaders from Xangongo City, Cunene Province (where the water intake pumping station is located), the employees from Spain BEFESA and the supervisors, inspected the construction site of Ondjiva Water Diversion Project contracted to China Hyway Group Limited Mocamedes Railway Project Company.

    Angola’s leaders visited the Cunene water intake pumping house, water treatment plant and etc. and the on-site engineer from the project department made a key introduction to Cunene water intake pumping house, process and layout of Xangongo water treatment plant, construction scheduling and other aspects.

     After mobilizing for just one month, China Hyway Group Limited Mocamedes Railway Project Company has completed the ground flattening and maintenance and built 15 board rooms. Angola’s leaders fully affirmed the progress and quality of construction performed by our company.

    The leaders from Angola’s Ministry of Water Resources required the local government to solve the problems as soon as possible on the site, including the removal of the last two tartars in the water treatment plant and construction sand use permit, and asked our workers to pay attention to security during construction in the riverside.

    The leaders from Angola’s Ministry of Water Resources also emphasized that Cunene River is the drinking water source of the local people, so we must protect the water resources during development and utilization. When seeing the local people pass the construction site and go to Cunene River to get water, they required us to properly handle the relation with the local people and try to create the job opportunities for them.

    At last, the leaders from Angola’s Ministry of Water Resources directed the local provincial and municipal leaders to cooperate for our construction work and jointly complete this key project to benefit the local people and promote Angola’s economy (the water diversion outlet extends to Namibia in the future). The on-site head from the project department expressed that with the strong support of the Angolan governments and leaders, China Hyway Group Limited Mocamedes Railway Project Company is confident and able to accomplish Ondjiva Water Diversion Project and make contributions to Angola’s development!
