    At 3:00 pm on August 26, Welcoming Ceremony for International Students from Angola & Opening Ceremony of “Jimei University-China Hyway International Program” were grandly held in Xiamen, Fujian Province.

    Mr. Cao Jiachang, Deputy Director of the Department of West Asian and African Affairs under the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Miss Luzia Santos, Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in China, Miss Augusta Mangueira Bessa, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of Angola in Hong Kong, Mr. Liu Daiwen, Chairman and President of China Hyway Group Limited, Mr. Hu Jiaming, CEO-Real Estate and CEO-Market of China Hyway Group Limited, all the students and faculty of “Jimei University-China Hyway International Program” and parent representatives attended the opening ceremony; the activity was presided by Mr. Yuan Xiaohua, Dean of Overseas Education College of Jimei University and the welcoming speech was delivered by Mr. Su Wenjin, President of Jimei University.

   “Jimei University-China Hyway International Program” applies the modes of university-industry cooperation and complementary advantages. Zhong An Lei Jun Construction Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary registered by China Hyway Group Limited in Angola, selects these students in Angola under the cooperation of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Angola and its Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office and funds them for their study in China. Overseas Education College of Jimei University designs a Program for them, in which the school system of “1+4” is adopted, i.e. one year for learning Chinese and four years for undergraduate courses. Through five years’ study, students will become different professionals with proficient skills in Chinese. In the first year for learning Chinese, students will take not only language courses, but also calligraphy, Chinese painting, paper cutting and other traditional culture courses, thus fully feeling the charm of Chinese culture in such short period of studying. The cultivation of specialty will be also based on their actual conditions, i.e. teaching them in accordance with their abilities and guiding them to improve themselves in accordance with the development trend. There are 30 students in the first “Jimei University-China Hyway International Program”. 

    Since it came to Angola in 2007, China Hyway Group Limited is always upholding the management philosophy of “mutual improvement and development with Angolan people” and devoted itself to promoting the rapid development of Angola; Mocamedes Railway Project completed by it has been highly affirmed and praised by the Angolan Government and people. In the process of corporate development, it is committed itself to offering more help to the Angolan Government and people, further promoting Sino-Angolan educational and cultural exchange, and deepening the communication and understanding between two peoples and between young people in two countries; with the care of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Angola, it has co-initiated the talent cultivation project with the Angolan Government, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Higher Education, in which 30 young Angolan students are funded to come to China for study, so as to undertake some social responsibilities for the Angolan people.  

    Jimei University, with a long history of nearly one hundred years, is an excellent university founded by Chen Jiageng, a famous Chinese patriotic leader overseas; Jimei University is featured with qualified faculty, prestigious teachers, complete facilities, beautiful environment, pure school spirit and outstanding school-running achievements. Its school-running philosophy of “developing the university in Chen Jiageng’s spirit and cultivating students for sincerity and perseverance” has a high degree of integration with China Hyway Group Limited’s corporate culture of “excellence, integrity, lasting development”. By taking this opportunity, China Hyway Group Limited and Jimei University give full play of their respective resource advantages and co-hold “Jimei University-China Hyway International Program”, and this will certainly further promote the educational and cultural exchange between two states, enhance two peoples’ friendship, and facilitate the interaction and understanding between young students. We are very confident of creating “Jimei University-China Hyway International Program” to “a new diplomatic card of Sino-African cooperation” under the sincere care of leaders from all walks of life, the strong support of leaders and teachers of Jimei University and the common efforts of students.

    There is a famous Chinese saying that “if the young are strong, the state will be strong”; young people are the future of a state and the hope of a family. The students, who come to China for study under the “Jimei University-China Hyway International Program”, are excellent representatives of Angolan young people; they have not only wisdom but also courage. We are firmly convinced that through five years’ study in China, they will, by virtue of their diligence and efforts, accomplish plenteous learning outcomes and become useful people for development of Angola; and they will be definitely the witness of profound friendship between two peoples. We further believe that friendship between two peoples will pass down from generation to generation through them and last forever. 

    We sincerely wish that students under the “Jimei University-China Hyway International Program” will have a happy life when studying in China and leave a fulfilling and beautiful memory in China. Meanwhile, we look forward that they will accomplish their study soon, go back to serve their motherland and make more contributions to Sino-African friendship and cooperation.
