On April 3, 2014, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming visited Ethiopia. He met respectively with President Mulatu Teshome and Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen of Ethiopia, and held talks with State Minister of Foreign Affairs Dewano Kedir as well. The two sides exchanged views on China-Ethiopia relations, practical cooperation in various fields and regional and international topics of common interest. H.E. Xie Xiaoyan, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia was present.

    Vice Minister Zhang Ming said that China and Ethiopia enjoy a profound and traditional friendship. In recent years, the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries has developed rapidly and all-round. All-dimensional cooperation for mutual benefit has always achieved new outcomes at various levels. On the path of common development, China and Ethiopia have always supported each other and been going for mutual benefit and win-win results, which is for a sustainable cooperation with strong vitality. China is willing to work with Ethiopia to increase the scope and depth of bilateral cooperation, to upgrade the level and quality of the cooperation and to push forward the bilateral relationship to a new stage.

     The Ethiopian side expressed that China occupies a special position in the foreign relations of Ethiopia, and has been the most important one among all the strategic partners of Ethiopia. Ethiopia-China friendly relationship is a result of the collective efforts by several generations of state leaders of both countries. Ethiopia highly appreciates and is deeply grateful for China's long-term selfless assistance to Ethiopia and the African people. In recent years, cooperation for mutual benefits and win-win results has been a strong link in the bilateral relations. Ethiopia is willing to continue learning from China for the experience and pattern of development, and hopes China will continue the assistance for Ethiopia to achieve faster development.
