On April 8, 2014, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Hage Geingob of Namibia at the Great Hall of the People.

    Xi Jinping said, Namibia is the all-weather friend of China in Africa. The traditional China-Namibia friendship forged by the older generations of the state leaders of the two countries is the precious treasure shared by the two countries. We should carry on the past and open a way for the future, to uplift the bilateral relationship to a higher level. The two sides should enhance political exchanges and dialogue, and continue the firm support to each other on major issues. The Chinese side supports capable and credible Chinese enterprises going to Namibia for cooperation in mining, agriculture, infrastructure construction, manufacturing and other fields, and build major projects as well.

    Geingob said that China has for long provided Namibia with valuable support and assistance. China is the old friend and good friend of Namibia. Namibia is making efforts to speed up the national construction. Namibia has laid eyes on China and hopes to deepen the friendly cooperative relationship with China. The Namibian side is willing to create a favorable investment environment for Chinese enterprises.

    Xi Jinping said, Africa is in the very period of realizing economic takeoff. We are full of confidence in Africa for its development. Strengthening unity and cooperation with African countries is an important cornerstone of China’s foreign policy, and this will not change with China’s own development or the elevation of China's international status. In cooperation with Africa, China upholds the right concept of morality and benefits, focuses on “teaching people the way of fishing”, and assists Africa in “building nests to attract phoenixes”, in order to enhance African countries’ capabilities in self-driven development and benefit their peoples, and to truly realize mutual benefit and win-win development, jointly fulfilling the dreams of development and revitalization.

    Geingob said that Africa is accelerating its realization of peace, stability and development. China has been sincerely assisting Africa, and the Namibian side stands ready to make greater contributions to the development of the Africa-China relationship.
     On the same day, Yu Zhengsheng, Chairperson of the National Committee of the CPPCC, met Geingob at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
     Yu Zhengsheng made a positive appraisal of China-Namibia traditional friendship and friendly cooperative relation. He said that Namibia is China’s “all-weather” friend, and the two countries and their peoples have been understanding, supporting and helping each other over the years. We have the responsibilities and obligations to develop and promote China-Namibia traditional friendship. I hope two sides would seriously carry out the important consensuses that you have reached with China’ leaders during your visit in respect of development of bilateral relationship, work together to properly act as the “gardeners”, and make joint efforts to smooth development of China-Namibia friendship and cooperation. The National Committee of the CPPCC is willing to work with Namibia to further strengthen people-to-people exchange, enhance the communication and cooperation of democracy and legal system building, improvement of livelihood and other aspects, and make new contributions to promoting their own national and social development and propelling China-Namibia cooperation in all fields. 

     Geingob expressed Chins is Namibia’s reliable and sincere friend and thanks China’s unswerving support to Namibia’s political independence and economic development.
