Li Keqiang Met With Ugandan Foreign Minister Kutesa, Expecting a Visit to Africa Within the Year

   Premier of the State Council, Li Keqiang, met with Ugandan Foreign Minister Kutesa at the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon on the 18th.

   Li Keqiang stated, “both China and Africa are in the same developing world; whether for national independence or for national development, China has been with African countries including Uganda in pursuing a shared future; China will continue to support the cause of peace and development in Africa and consolidate and promote traditional friendship and bilateral cooperation between China and Africa and I expect to visit Africa within the year to push China-Africa relations forward on a new historical starting point.”

   Li Keqiang pointed out that as a defender of world peace and promoter of common development, U.N. has the sacred duty to maintain basic norms of international relations and that China will firmly support the U.N and the General Assembly to play a more significant role, focus on development to formulate post-2015 development agenda and do more benefit for African countries and developing countries.

   Kutesa said that China has provided valuable support and selfless assistance for national dependence and development of most African Countries, firmly maintained benefits of African countries and remained a reliable friend of African countries. He added that Africa looks forward to Premier Li Keqiang’s early visit to Africa and believes such visit will help promote China-Africa relations; and Uganda, together with other African countries, is willing to work with China to pursue cooperation based on mutual benefits, enhance coordination in the U.N. and other multilateral institutions in order to protect common interests and promote world peace and development.
