Chairman Liu Daiwen of the group company, President Zhang Zhenhan of the Industrial and Trade Division, and General Manager He Wanlin of the South Sudan branch were present at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Juba-Rumbek highway.
At around 10 a.m. on December 13, 2014, Juba was brightly illuminated by the sun, and the groundbreaking ceremony site was bustling with activity, colorful flags waving in the air. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Juba-Rumbek highway project to be constructed by the South Sudan branch of China Hyway Group Limited was held with great fanfare. Liu Daiwen and Zhang Zhenhan from the group company were invited to attend the event.
The Juba-Rumbek highway stretches a total of 400 kilometers, connecting Central Equatoria and Lakes states. This highway would be the second high-grade interstate highway of the Republic of South Sudan, with the initial phase of construction covering a distance of 60 kilometers.
Attendees at the groundbreaking ceremony included Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan; Ma Qiang, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan; representatives from other relevant ministries and commissions of South Sudan; other leaders from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in South Sudan; representatives from China-invested enterprises; and members of the ethnic dance performance group from South Sudan.
The groundbreaking ceremony for this significant project, hosted by the South Sudanese government on December 13, sent a strong signal about its commitment to construction and development. This would bring more opportunities and challenges for China Hyway.
