News from Moçâmedes Railway Project Company —On June 30, 2012, Augusto da Silva Tomás, Angola's Minister of Transport; José Kuvíngua, Vice Minister of Transport; Julio Bango Joaquim, Director of the National Railway Research Institute; Cândida Celeste, Governor of Namibe Province; Isaac dos Anjos, Governor of Huíla Province; Daniel Quipaxe, Director of the Moçâmedes Railway Bureau; along with our representatives, including Yang Shuiqing, Executive Deputy General Manager of China Hyway Group Limited and General Manager of Engineering Contracting and Trade Management Company and Wei Ruihai, Chief Economist of China Hyway Group Limited and General Manager of Moçâmedes Railway Project Company, joined over 600 guests to experience the trial operation of the Moçâmedes Railway from Namibe to Lubango by train. This trial operation marked the first passenger train service on the Moçâmedes Railway between Namibe and Lubango, following the successful launch of the first passenger train on the Matala-Menongue section on December 2, 2011.
This event was jointly organized by the Angolan Ministry of Transport, the Moçâmedes Railway Bureau, and the Moçâmedes Railway Project Company of China Hyway Group Limited. Multiple media outlets, including Angola Press Agency, Jornal de Angola, Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA), and Rádio National de Angola (RNA), provided whole-process coverage of the railway trial operation.
