Vice Governor of Cunene Province, Angola, Visits Ondjiva Water Diversion Project Site of Moçâmedes Railway Project Company

On the afternoon of May 29, 2010, a delegation of over a dozen individuals led by the Vice Governor of Cunene Province and the Mayor of Xianggonggu City in Angola visited the construction site of the Ondjiva Water Diversion Project. China Hyway Group Limited recently won the bid for this project. The contract for the Ondjiva Water Diversion Project was signed on May 6, and temporary structures for construction were set up on May 13. This was the first time government officials from Cunene inspected the site. Mr. Liu Yanxiang, the on-site person in charge of the Project Department, introduced in detail the design, construction, process, and site layout of the project to the government officials from Cunene. He said, "The whole project consists of one intake pump house, two water plants, five booster pump stations, two water towers, and 100KM¢630HDPE pipeline laying and installation (beyond the contract). The project spans 18 months and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2011." The Vice Governor and government officials from Xianggonggu City saw that our employees completed the site leveling and enclosure and fence construction in such a short time, despite the harsh conditions of living in tents and drinking river water. They fully affirmed our efforts. The Vice Governor urged the accompanying government officials to actively collaborate on the construction of the water diversion project. Additionally, he stressed that the Ondjiva Water Diversion Project is crucial for diverting water for people and livestock in southeastern cities such as Xianggonggu and Ondjiva. It represents a significant initiative that will benefit future generations in Cunene Province. Therefore, he stressed that governments at all levels must prioritize this project. The Vice Governor also hoped that China Hyway Group Limited would continue to overcome difficulties, speed up the schedule, and complete the water diversion project with quality and quantity guaranteed. The goal is to put the project into operation as soon as possible
