On June 4, the 6th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum jointly hosted by China International Contractors Association and Government of Macao Special Administrative Region Economic Bureau was held in Macao Special Administrative Region. Zhang Xiangchen, China International Trade Alternate Representative, delivered a keynote speech on the forum. 

   Zhang Xiangchen said that infrastructure cooperation forms an important part of Chinese foreign economic cooperation; in 2014, the new contract amount of China international project reached $191.8 billion, accounting for a business volume of $142.4 billion all over 190 countries and regions. China is with comparative advantages in such industries as railway, power, communication, building materials and engineering machine and can make mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields with countries all over the world via flexible investment, engineering construction, technical cooperation and other manners. 

   Zhang Xiangchen pointed out that Chinese government had recently developed and published Vision on Jointly Building Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, welcoming all countries and regions to join the initiative. Accelerating the building of the Belt and Road is China’s new initiative to advance economic development and can help promote the perfection and development of regional infrastructure and bring the regional economic integration to a new high. Facilities connectivity is a priority area for implementing the Initiative. Many countries along the “Belt and Road” are in great demand for infrastructure, lots of projects in respect to railways, highways, energy, ports, information, industrial park, etc. are putting on the agenda, and there are many market opportunities for infrastructure cooperation there. At present, more than 60 countries along the routes and international organizations have shown interest in taking part in the development of the Belt and the Road; the Silk Road Fund has been launched successfully and a lots of facilities connectivity projects are carried out in a stable manner. 

   Mr. Zhang Xiangcheng put forward three opinions on strengthening infrastructure cooperation and realizing advantageous complement and promoting mutual benefit and win-win development: one is welcoming all related countries to take part in the “Road and Belt” Initiative actively; two is making innovation in the financing and business model and promoting common development of infrastructure; three is strengthening multilateral & bilateral cooperation and creating sound cooperation environment. 

   Ren Yaojian, Deputy Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Liang Weite, Director of Economy and Finance Department of Macao Special Administrative Region, Davis, Deputy Prime Minister of the Bahamas and Fallas, Vice-President of Costa Rica, 42 officials above vice-minister level from 31 countries and regions and representatives from over 30 international financial institutions, project contractors, equipment manufacturers and service agencies, about more than 1000 persons, attended the forum.
