On the morning of May 5 (local time), Premier Li Keqiang met AU Commission Chairperson Zuma at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa.
Li Keqiang said African Union is a flag to guide African countries to hold together and make progress and has greater influence on Africa and the world. The Chinese side is always treating its relation with African Union strategically for a long run, unswervingly supports African Union’s role in guiding African integration process, maintaining African peace and security and dealing with the regional and international affairs, and is willing to closely communicate with the high-level authority of African Union, make good use of the forum on China-Africa Cooperation and other strategic dialogue mechanisms, strengthen the exchange of governing experience, and further push the bilateral relationship to a higher level.
Li Keqiang said China firmly supports Africa’s peace and security course. To properly settle the peace and security problems, it is necessary to seek both temporary and permanent solutions, especially those for root causes. China supports Africa’s reasonable appeals and propositions in the United Nations and other occasions and is devoted itself to working with Africa to conduct cooperation, seek for development and improve livelihood for a long time. The Chinese side is willing to continue enhancing the exchange and cooperation in agriculture, industrialization, poverty alleviation, health care, infrastructure and other fields, together with the African side, and hopes to offer more help in terms of HR development and training, etc.
Zuma said China, as one of Africa’s sincere friends, not only stood by us in African national liberation movement, but also always supports Africa to realize the peaceful development and integration process and enlarge its right of speech in international affairs. The African countries are willing to learn China’s development experience, deepen cooperation, accomplish larger development, and work together to propel to establish a fairer and more reasonable international order. AU Commission will continue playing its active role in promoting the development of Africa-China relations.
After the meeting, Li Keqiang and Zuma jointly witnessed the signing of cooperation documents in respect of economy, technology, infrastructure and other fields. China and Africa released a joint statement of comprehensively deepening the friendly cooperation and a cooperation outline of strengthen the poverty alleviation.
Li Keqiang, accompanied with AU Commission Vice Chairperson Mwencha, visited AU Conference Center which was built with the aid of China.
