Jimei University’s “Freshmen Cup” Football Game Closed, and Overseas Education School of the Univers

   October 22, 2014 witnessed successful closing of the 18th “Freshmen Cup” Football Game of Jimei University. Through the 7-day intense competition, Overseas Education School defeated the Schools of Fine Arts, of Finance and Economy, of Business Administration, and of Mechanical Engineering, and finally climbed to the championship podium. The result was heartening. That not only opens a new chapter of brilliant achievements of Overseas Education School’s football team, but also raises the morale of the schools to participate in the University’s sports meetings. It can be said the game is inspiring.

   The finals were carried out between Overseas Education School and Mechanical Engineering School. For this, multinational students’ team included Chinese, Angolan, Yemenis, Indonesian, Frenchmen, and Thai students. Participation of overseas students injected new blood into the overseas football team and significantly improved its fighting capacity. On final field, the players rallied to defeat their opponents, with their superb football skills, tenacious fighting spirit and never-say-die will. The most impressive were the Angolan students, who applied fast movement, delicate passing and dazzling attack to make the whole team's offensive part and defense role well-played. The second and fourth goals scored by the Angolan students Leodrew and Andre respectively absorbed cheers of the audience outside the stadium, and their superb skills vanquished opponents. The finals came to an end when this passionate African whirlwind team triumphed over the rivals with 4:0 record, winning the first championship of football match in school sports for Overseas Education School.

   In the spirit of “competition second to friendship”, football team members of Overseas Education School were full of vitality and fought with every effort in the field. However, after the match, they built deep friendship with other schools’ players by enhancing mutual understanding while enriching their part-time life.
